Memorial Day.

For your final readings of Times of Change, I would like you to set aside some time on Monday (Memorial Day) to read the choices above. Once you are done, I would like for you to post in your blog a note to the men and women on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. After what you have learned over the past few days, and what you saw when we went to D.C., what would you want to say to them?

Dear Men and Women that fought in Vietnam,
I can't thank you enough for risking your lives so that I can live in a safer world. You risk freedom health and yourself for me. TNot many people realize what you have done for us, but trust me it doesn't go unnotticed. The best type of glory is gory that is discovered not a deed that is pushed in front of your face. Thanks again.

Sincerley,

Jason Pickart

Times of Change reading

Look up both words in the title of the short essay. What do they mean?

Dubious: Dubious means very doubtful.

Crusade: Crusade means an aggressive battle.

I think the meaning of this is that America will enter into a very aggressuve battle in 'Nam, but there is very little hope that we will succeed.

Relate the title to the reading. What is Warren saying? How do you think this will relate to the rest of our study if Vietnam?

The whole theme is that the USA got itself into a war that they cannot win. It was a stupid idea and it left the USA the so called 'Super Power" humiliated.

What is the overall theme of Vuong-Riddick's poem?
The overall theme is confusion and misunderstanding,

What is the main thesis of the essay?
It is about how the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution brought us into the war.

What was the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution?

The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was an approval by congress to protect the Gulf of Tonkin- the reason for this was to protect the US intrests in the gulf.

What evidence does the author give to support his thesis?

Senator Fulbright was interviewed and said that the president had lied.

How does this link to the theme of the first reading, “A Dubious Crusade”?

This event it covered in doubt and could just be another example of the crusade against communism and the USSR.

Has Mlk's Dream been Realized?

Has MLKS's Dream Been Realized? - Education.

The educational attendence, graduating, degree obtaining, and children that can read have been improving quite alot. These ahievements are starting to level out so that is almost equal. This i very ood I thik MLK would like this part.

However The rates are still not equal. For example, whites have a better probabililty to obtain a doctoran degree than hispanics, blacks, and pacific islanders. This MLK would not like. A lot of peeople think that after Mlk gave his I have a dream speech all racial inequality was over, but were they wrong. It is 2007 and it is still not equal.

To really fix this I think that they should incourage way more mixing of races in the classroom so that there isan eual balances of races in schools. if that doesn't work i say we improve all the school curriculums every where and make sure there are no inequalities.

2. King was the right man at the right time. He did protests without violence and that is what the USA needed most.
